- Walk the suite with the landlord, tenant or GC and confirm the finish standard
- Strip old flooring and base, then scrape or grind the adhesive
- Patch, level and test the slab
- Install flooring after painting and ceiling work, before furniture

Commercial LVT for Retail Floors
Commercial LVT is a glue-down luxury vinyl tile or plank with a thicker wear layer and a construction rated for business traffic. For a retail floor, that means at least a 20 mil wear layer, and 28 mil for stores with heavy foot traffic, carts or beach sand at the door.

Rolling loads decide the adhesive. A pressure-sensitive adhesive allows planks to shift slightly under a loaded pallet jack, so heavy-load aisles get a hard-set or two-part adhesive that locks each piece to the slab, then the floor is rolled with a 100 lb roller.

Working Around Business Hours
The most useful thing a commercial flooring contractor can do is keep your doors open. We schedule office and retail installs after closing, over weekends or in zones, so customers and staff barely notice.
For a store, that usually means one zone of the sales floor per night, with fixtures restocked before opening. For an office, it often means a Friday evening start, a full weekend install and furniture back in place before staff arrive on Monday.
After-hours shifts
Crews start after closing and leave the space clean, safe and open for business the next morning. Zones that are mid-install are taped off with temporary transitions.

How fast can you turn over a retail space?
A retail suite of 1,000 to 2,000 sq ft can usually be stripped and refloored in 2 to 4 working days once the material is on Maui. Polished concrete and tile take longer because of grinding passes and mortar cure.
If the opening date is fixed, order product first, because non-stock flooring can take 4 to 6 weeks to ship to the island.
What flooring stands up to rolling chairs and carts?
Under desks, solution-dyed nylon carpet tile with a dense, low loop handles chair casters far better than cut pile. For carts, pallet jacks and rolling racks, choose glue-down commercial LVT on a hard-set adhesive, heat-welded sheet vinyl or polished concrete. Floating floors are a poor fit for heavy rolling loads because the locking joints flex and open.
Can new flooring go down without moving our fixtures?
Sometimes. Built-in casework and cash wraps usually stay put, and we cut the new floor tight to them with a finished edge. Freestanding gondolas, racks and desks are better moved, because a floor installed around them leaves bare patches when the layout changes, and we can move them section by section so the store stays stocked.
